Happy Birthday Mom!

Today would have been my moms 72nd birthday!!

Jell-o cookies

Gretchen asked if we could make cookies today. We decided to make these JELL-O cookies.
This kids had a good time.  Easton thought it was hilarious that he made a snowman.
Gretchen made a purple pizza
Kinslee didn't really know what to do so she sort of just poked it with her finger.
Our finished product.  We used Strawberry, peach, lime and grape jell-o.  I have only tried the strawberry cookie.  It was pretty tasty.  Not the best cookie in the world but my kids loved that they got to play with the dough a little bit before we cooked it.

Mother's Day

I am not a huge fan of mother's day.  My mom was great and I love her so very much.  I love being a mom, but sometimes mother's day is hard.  This year I didn't really have very high expectations and it was a fine day.  While I was in the shower Easton and Gretchen got me breakfast.(Chad was getting ready for meetings so they did it all by themselves)
Easton also wrote me a note that said;  all year you have been the best.
The hand you see in the picture is Kinslee, she totally ate one of my pieces of toast.

New Years Eve

We started off our new years eve day buy taking down all our Christmas decorations.  Gretchen took a few pictures.

Kinslee was a big help with unpacking all the ornaments.
She also helped with the lights.
Growing up my family always did fondue for new years.  My siblings even gave us a fondue pot for a wedding gift.  We had never used it until this year.
 Cheese!
 Easton
 Gretchen
This isn't the best picture but this is one of my favorite things, super salad.  So yummy.
We also had homemade Peach Pleasure Jamba Juice that tasty pretty close to the real thing.

Manners

Some dinners are just plain better then others I guess.
Kinslee really enjoyed her dinner.
I guess she is taking after her older brother and sister.  They both love spaghetti also!

Never leave a 2 year old unattended!

Gretchen is a way slow eater compared to the rest of the family so we tend to let her sit and eat until she is done.  I try to clear the whole table except her plate.  Sometimes I forget something.  Usually we find her drink dumped on her plate.  Tonight it was the whole container of Parmesan cheese.  I had to take a picture I know weird but hey that's how I am.

Christmas 2009

We had a very good Christmas this year. We started off Christmas Eve Day by making sugar cookies. We had to have some cookies to give Santa.
Gretchen really enjoyed putting the green sprinkles on. We had our traditional dinner of Clam Chowder and then we opened up the last day of the advent calendar and read from the Scriptures about the Birth of our Savior.

This picture was taken while Chad was reading to us.

Then we got to open one gift. Pajamas of course. My kids are young enough that they thought it was something really cool like a toy. Well actually they really both love pajamas so it was still cool. Chad and I got to open one this year to and i loved that.

Then we went and delivered treats to a few friends and drove and looked at Christmas lights. Then we came home checked in on where Santa was at and went to bed.
Growing up we got up way early and i loved it. In years past we have just gotten up when Easton woke up for the day (6:30-7ish). This year though he new when he woke up that we got to open presents so he woke up at 4:45ish. I was so excited. I love seeing how excited they get.

I loved these pictures. I took like four because Gretchen kept yawning, we woke her up.This is the only picture I took after all was said and done. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

Making Cookies

I really enjoy making sugar cookies. So since we have Halloween cookie cutters then we must make Halloween cookies. Not that we need anymore junk food in this house. I don't know why all my pictures look so crappy. I think I need to take some photography lessons or something.

I really didn't want lots of pumpkins and ghosts calling me to eat them so then we made these little candy corn cookies that I think I might give to the people I visit teach.
The decorating the cookies really is Easton and Gretchen's favorite.

Don't you love how she is licking her fingers.

I know you all want that ghost cookie with a couple tablespoons of sprinkles on it. I wasn't watching her and i looked up and whoa half the bottle on one cookie.

Random stuff at our house

This post is going to be just a little random but I wanted to get a few of these things down. So I am not so good at doing my own hair so Gretchen usually has only a few different things done. I have never been able to french braid and so I thought I should try do Gretchen's.
This is what I got. I know it doesn't look that good but I had to take a picture because i did it. I was so proud of myself. My family thought I was crazy.

This month I decided I was going to make my family fun weird foods. So Sunday I made these sludge cups.

It is Lime jello on the bottom and grape jello on the top with gummy worms in it and on top. They all seemed to enjoy them. Especially Easton.
Last night for dinner I made these Mummy dogs. They were a hit. I have a few more fun food ideas that I am hoping to make next week.
